About Us

Wordpuzzlesolvers is a set of free word game tools, solvers, makers, and strategy guide, built by Muhammad Ali, a business marketing student and content strategist and small tool maker based in Lahore, Pakistan. The site started because most of the tools already out there get simple, checkable things wrong.

The Problems We Kept Running Into

Wrong scoring tables. One popular Word Hunt solver publishes a Scrabble-style letter value table, Q worth ten, A worth one. Word Hunt does not use letter values at all. It scores on word length only. Anyone playing by that table was chasing points that do not exist. Wrong game rules. A different Boggle solver listed a scoring table that belongs to a completely separate game. The rules were not just slightly off.

They were for something else entirely. Copy-paste errors that never got fixed. We found one site carrying the same factual mistake across four different pages, for years. Nobody checked. Nobody updated it. No answer key. Almost every word search generator gives you the puzzle but not a proper answer key. Teachers printing a worksheet had to solve their own puzzle by hand first.

No phrase results. Most anagram solvers stop at single words. Type DORMITORY and you get the letters rearranged into one word. Nobody was building the phrase results, DIRTY ROOM, that most people actually want. Filler words nobody checked. A word search generator packs your words in, then fills the rest with random letters. Those letters spell things by accident.

Some of them you do not want on a classroom worksheet. The developer of one word search app described scanning every finished puzzle by hand to remove rude words the filler had created. Advice that was never tested. The most repeated Word Hunt tip is to hunt for words ending ING. When we ran two thousand simulated boards, ING appeared on two percent of them.

Meanwhile, a pattern almost nobody mentions, consonant, vowel, consonant, E, was on eighty-two percent. The advice everyone repeated was the advice that wasted the most time. None of this is hard to get right. It just needs someone to check.

How These Tools Are Built

Every solver is tested before it ships, and the tests are written to catch the tool being wrong rather than to confirm it is right. The engines are checked against a second implementation written separately, so a mistake in one would show as a disagreement rather than passing quietly. Answers are verified against boards with known solutions. Across the tools that is several hundred assertions, and they are re-run whenever anything changes. That is not a claim to perfection. Bugs found by people using the site have already been fixed, and there will be more.

The Word List

The solvers run on Re-Enable, the public domain ENABLE list with profanity removed. It holds 172,304 usable words and you can go and read it, which is unusual in this category. Most competitors use tournament dictionaries such as TWL or Collins. Those return more words, and a lot of them are archaic or dialect terms no game will accept. They are also licensed, and this site does not have a licence.

No game’s dictionary matches this one exactly. GamePigeon has never published its word list. That means a word here may be rejected in a game, and occasionally a game accepts something this site does not have. Every solver has this problem. Most do not say so. There is a report button beside every result. Marking a word that failed is the only way anyone works out what these games actually accept, and those reports go into improving the list.

What Is Measured Rather Than Assumed

Where a page makes a claim about strategy, it comes from running the numbers rather than repeating advice. The usual tip for Word Hunt is to hunt for words ending in ING. Across two thousand simulated boards, ING was available on three percent of them. Something ending in S was available on sixty-seven percent and worth roughly nine thousand five hundred points more per board.

Where a figure could not be measured directly, the page says so. GamePigeon has never released its letter distribution, so the simulations use the published 1987 Boggle dice as a stand-in. The proportions should hold. The exact numbers are close rather than official.
